| that looks fun mate......just watched a few qualifying vids from youtube too :-) can i ask a few questions? On average, how much does it cost per year to run a car in the GTi Championship? What does it take to be competetive, car wise?? And do i need a race licence? I been thinkin of this for a while now, and its summit i'd really like to get into? _________________ |

| Its worth every penny mate. I'm probably not going to be able to fund a full season next year but I'll definately be out at as many rounds as I can. This seasons entry fees totalled around £1200 for a full season. It is alot of money but in comparison with the £21 000 required for the VW Cup its budget racing. Running costs will vary from meeting to meeting depending upon what actually happens in the meeting. The biggest repair cost this year had been a rad and bonnet. Fuel consumption by the car is around £25-30 depending on conditions and the circuit. Tyres are £250 a set. You are limited to 8 sets per season but in reality 3 - 4 will do with some rotation. Mr Browns trackday weapon is pretty much series spec and is reflective to most of the cars out there. It'll be interesting to see some of his times round Snett when he's out on track next to see how far up the grid it would've been. You need to take an ARDS test for a MSA National B licence. The test is easy (after all I passed it!) and is well worth it as you can drag your track weapon along to Test days rather track days and get on track with some serious machinery with some household names who aren't going to wipe out your pride and joy as porsche drivers try to on most trackdays! Have a look on golfgtiracing.co.uk and register on the forum, there's lots of advice and some interesting chat! |
