| Around £500 for the pistons with rings and pins, although you'll need to source a longer stroke crank.
Hard luck with the melted pistons, but at least now you'll have a fully rebuilt bottom end and a spare to play with in the future |

| yep, you've guessed it - i been at it again.................. here i go!!! Fitted my new 8p box the other week, drained it and topped it up with brand new oil, aligned linkage, and weyhey - 5 gears here we come.......all sorted... I foigured out why the car was not boosting after all - stupid little clip on the accelerator cable had pinged off, so i couldnt actually get anywhere past about 1/3 throttle, lol. Thats y i was only making 0.1 bar boost, lol! Thas also sorted now. Chip arrived and was fitted promptly - and what a difference, also chucked a toothed belt kit on it (cheers dan) The toothed belt kit is by far THE best mod i've done, so much improvement from somethin so simple! Anyway - here comes the bad bit - the day after i fitted the toothies, i was comin down the m11, and joining the a14 near cambridge, when the car sort of juddered.......... uhhh oh i thought - looked in the mirror - nothing but blue smoke everyhwere so i pulled over... The engine had shot oil out of one of the rocker cover bolt holes - past hte rubber washer, it had come out of the dipstick tube, and had blown through the charger etc..........however the car was still running? Only on 3 mind - but it was running.. Yup, you've guessed it - the infamous piston meltage! Phoned the missus, and she came out in my raddo, and i towed myself home (or rather to Brownyg40's garage - Cheers m only to returnt he following night to remove the head! Here's what happened!

not good eh. I have since been back to brownie's yesterday (saturday) to remove the complete block, and gearbox as its easier. I removed the block, removed the sump,
and rippe out pistons numbers 3 and 4 - and here they are! Number 4

what a mess eh........... Anyway - thanks to a great m8 (DK again) i have now sourced another bottom end, which will be going in the car next weekend. So hopefully she'll be back on the road again by early march, lol!!! At least I'm still smiling eh!!! Oh, and for u purists out there - i have finally cleaned my engine bay out whilst i was at it!
is that better?, lol Next on the list: New high pressure inline pump, new genuine lift pump, g60 injectors, new chip - AGAIN, and a rebuilt bottom end obv, lol! Lets hope she survives a bit longer this time, as I'm booked on a track day in april, and dont wanna miss it, or blow up on the day, lol! Also going to be removing the horrid side skirts on the car, and fitting genuine g40 itmes in their place, along with hopefully, fitting g40 arches (if i can find some) and rolling lips on rear arches - to accomodate my 6.5 x 14 bbs's that i've got comin (after they're painted) Oh, and a new bonnet, to be fitted after paint, without crappy bonnet vents, lol! Its slowly turning into a nice G!!!! cheers for reading peeps _________________
